Yod (The Path of Purification)

Overview

Yod is referred to as the "Path of Purification", and is a path for those who tend to be committed to the service of mankind and the purification of others. It is a path that requires dedication, balance, knowledge and wisdom, and often involves compassion and the sharing of one’s bounty with others.

Position in the Tree of Life

Yod connects the sephirots, or spheres, of Chesed and Tiphereth in the Hebrew Tree of Life. Chesed occupies the 4th position in the Tree of Life and is associated with love and kindness, representing the opportunities, positive results, and prosperity that comes from our thoughts, emotions and actions. In Jewish tradition, this sephira is ruled over by the Guardian angel Tzadqiel. Tiphereth occupies the 6th position in the Tree of Life and is associated with Beauty, representing our inner self - our soul - revealing the inner meaning of our lives, our purpose, our ideals and objectives. In Jewish tradition, Tiphereth is ruled over by the Guardian angel Raphael.

Personality Type

Those on the Path of Yod tend to be very practical, down to earth, and frugal. They tend to be perfectionists who are quite polished but who can sometimes come across as finicky and overly demanding. People on this path are methodical in their approach, with strong organizational skills and a strong sense of responsibility. They like to maintain control over their surroundings, and tend to have difficulty accepting or trusting things at face value. They are lifelong learners who tend to enjoy accumulating knowledge throughout their entire life. And while they are somewhat reserved, they are still quite sociable and tend to be good conversationalists.
