Earth Chakra Activity #5: Ground the chaotic energy of a craving with this tactile art project, the "Root to Earth" Matrix. When you finish, hang this in your Safe Zone. When you feel triggered, visually trace the roots down to the anchor, touch the physical dirt, and read your phrase aloud to ground yourself. Materials: Thick paper, dark ink (or runny paint), a straw, coloring supplies, liquid glue, and real dirt or sand. Instructions:Drop heavy pools of ink at the top of your page. Use the straw to forcefully blow the ink downward, creating chaotic "roots." This physically expels your anxious energy. Let it dry. At the bottom where your ink roots end, draw and heavily shade a solid foundation (like dense stones or earth). Focus on the calming, repetitive motion of coloring. Paint glue over your drawn foundation and press the real dirt or sand into it. This gives you a rough, physical texture you can actually touch. Finish it up by writing a grounding phrase at the bottom (e.g., "I am heavier than the storm").
We are our choices.

Earth Chakra Activity #4: Your environment reflects your mind. A cluttered, trigger-heavy space keeps your nervous system hyper-vigilant, risking relapse. You cannot heal in the environment that traumatized you; you must build physical safety. Complete this in two phases, but avoid perfectionism. Spend ~60 minutes on a ruthless purge, then ~30 minutes setting up your safe space. Phase 1: The Cleanse (Clear the soil) Remove Contraband: Destroy or throw away all addiction remnants with conviction (e.g., pour liquids down the drain, smash glass). Exorcise Ghosts: Box up or hide any objects that spike your heart rate or carry the "frequency" of your past addiction. Silence Visual Noise: Clear surfaces and organize chaotic piles to create physical order. Phase 2: The Safe Space Create a secure, heavy, calming zone (even just an armchair or corner). Anchors & Comfort: Use a weighted blanket, thick rug, or heavy pillows to feel cocooned. Keep lighting low and warm. Include your grounding essential oils, a natural earth element, and your journal/pen. Enforce 3 Boundaries: No Warfare: No phone arguments, stressful bills, or triggering scrolling. You must physically leave the zone for these tasks. No Contamination: Do not let anyone bring chaotic energy into this space. Craving Sanctuary: If the somatic anchor drop fails to break a craving loop, retreat to your cocoon, hold your earth element, and wait out the physiological wave.

Earth Chakra Activity #3: Deliberately plan a meal centered entirely around roasted root vegetables and dark colored foods.* Foods that grow in the dark, dense earth are the ultimate Earth Star anchors. When we consume them, or foods that carry dense weight, we signal to the physical body that we are grounded. Think potatoes, carrots, beets, sweet potatoes, onions, garlic, and ginger. The Earth Star also resonates with dark reds, browns, and blacks. Black beans, dark lentils, blackberries, and mineral-rich sea salt naturally align with this frequency. *Early recovery is exhausting. If preparing a meal feels impossible and threatens to trigger a relapse, I encourage you to utilize food delivery services and have them bring you a heavy, comforting, grounding meal. The goal is the intake of the anchor, not necessarily the labor of cooking it.
