So I’m a college student who has a complicated relationship with her mom! To all you moms out there, is this common? Any advice on how I can be me and have a healthier relationship with my mom?
My relationship with my mum was always good right till the end and I hope mine with my daughter will be the same but my mum had a complicated relationship with my gran I know that much
Setting clear boundaries, practicing open and honest communication, and taking the time to reflect on the dynamics between you both can help create a more understanding relationship.
Relationships are a journey, and it’s okay to need space while still caring for and respecting each other.
Wow… this is question! I think in general, mother/ daughter relationships are complex. My little one is still small but I am very conscious of not creating the same conflicts my mother and I have. That’s not to say that I’m not creating other issues! I think the best thing is to try and accept who she is. try to learn to self validate and realize that she probably needed a healthier mothering style too & is just another woman trying to understand how to BE a mom! So compassion & understanding for you both on your journey together.
