WHY DO YOU DO WHAT YOU DO? Take care not to do your good deeds publicly or before men, in order to be seen by them; otherwise you will have no reward (reserved for and awaiting youl with and from your Father Who is in heaven. MATTHEW 6:1 God is more interested in why we do things than in what we do. It is very important to Him that our motives are right. In 1 Corinthians 3:13-15 Paul said that when the day of Christ's return comes, we will all stand before the judgment seat of God, and our works will be judged to see if they were pure or not. Those not done with right motives will be burned up and all of our reward for them lost—although we ourselves will be saved. We are not saved by our works, but our works done with right motives will receive a reward. Take time to ask yourself why you do the things you do. We should not do something simply to please people, especially if we resent doing it. We should not do things to be seen or noticed or thought well of. When we do something good, it should be because we love God and are being obedient to Him. I am looking forward to my rewards, and I hope you're looking forward to yours also. Take time occasionally to do a motive check and remove anything from your life that you are not doing with pure motives. You might find that you will have more time and less stress. Confession: I do what I do with pure motives and because love God and want to be obedient to Him.
