As part of my gratitude journey, I’ve decided to help out at a homeless shelter to be of service to others. Has anyone else volunteered before? Any tips?
That’s a beautiful way to give back.
One tip is to go in with an open heart and no expectations— just being present and kind can make a huge difference.
Also, if it’s your first time, take time to listen and learn from both the staff and those you’re serving.
Wishing you a meaningful experience!
I once volunteered at My Team Triumph. They push the Team Captain in a wheelchair so they can participate in runs, 10k, marathon. I’ve heard they do all types! I was able to walk. As I’m not a runner, but can also greet the teams with water, etc. https://www.myteamtriumph.org/
I had once volunteered for a homeless shelter over the Christmas period. We transformed a space and offered hot food, showers, a doctors and dentist checkout, arts and crafts, Christmas dinner, music etc it was an incredibly humbling, challenging and powerful experience. I feel grateful that I was able to help someone, even in a small way. If everyone helped a little, I feel the world would be a better place. Well done for doing this Olivia.
