A Blassing for trying to Watch When the news is Heavy Blessed are you, who care deeply for others, Those who shed a tear, even for people you do not know. Those who watch with the volume muted, Repeating to yourselves "not again" as the stories run across the screen. Blessed are you, those who feel numb. Those who have seen so much violence and heard so much hatred that the tears no longer come. Those who go about washing dishes and wiping counters, while headlines blare in the background, the horrific working itself into the hum of the everyday. Blessed are you, the overwhelmed. Those who flip the channel and cannot bring yourselves to return. Those who say "there is no such thing as other people's children", feeling crushed by the weight that we were never meant to bear in full. Pt1
