I saved a groundhog yesterday. It was hit by a car—unfortunately people speed here very often, even with the police camera on our street. It was very sweet, likely from being scared. I grabbed it, and after a little hissing it finally ate the watermelon and drank the water. It was hot, but the car ride to the rescue vet finally cooled it down. I feel so awful that they didn’t make it... I’m glad they at least got to die a quick, humane death. But I’m still very sad that the injuries were too severe to help them further. Are there any good practices for someone passing? I lit a candle and did some meditation, but I still don’t feel the closure I need.
