Has a friend suddenly turned on you? Are they making false accusations against you? It's natural to want to retaliate, to defend yourself, to point out their faults and mistakes. But God doesn't want us to respond in the natural; He wants us to respond in the supernatural. He wants us to turn the other cheek. He wants us to love our enemies and speak good about them. He wants us to leave our reputation up to Him. In your home, if your spouse doesn't treat you right, it's easy to think, "I'm going to treat him the same way." Or if your kids are disrespectful, you might think, "I'm not going to give them more of my time." If you're going to pass the test, however, you've got to be good to people even when they're not being good to you. You've got to do the right thing, even and especially when the wrong thing is happening. God wouldn't have allowed this difficulty if you couldn't handle it. See it as an opportunity to grow. When you do the right thing, there's a blessing that follows. When you take the high road, there will always be a reward. The mistake we make too often is constantly telling ourselves, "This is not fair. This is not right. When they straighten up, then I'll have a better attitude. When this happens, then I'll be happy." No, you've got to make the first move. You do your part, and God will do His part. Quit worrying about God changing them, and let God change you. Take the high road.
