Sadness is an emotion God gave us as humans. In my opinion, we have to go through periods of sadness in our lives. This is normal. When addressing the self regulation, I feel prayer is the best way to handle it. Talk to God about your feelings and see if that helps you "give" it away. Sometimes we have to deal with difficult situations and feelings. It's not a matter of letting them pass through but learning to live with your emotions instead of pushing them away.
