Play Isn’t a Distraction — It’s Nervous System Work 🧠✨ Play isn’t just “being silly” or avoiding your problems. It’s one of the few things that naturally combines activation + safety at the same time — which is exactly what helps your system regulate. When you laugh, move, joke around, or get a little weird with someone you feel safe with, your body is literally practicing: 👉 “I can feel energy and still be okay.” That’s not fluff. That’s training your nervous system. And honestly… sometimes I connect with this way more than forcing myself to sit still and “calm down.” Simple ways to bring in play + creativity: 🎨 Doodle or draw badly on purpose (no pressure to be good) 🎶 Put on music and move however your body wants (even if it’s awkward) 😂 Send a ridiculous meme or voice note to a friend 🃏 Play a game — cards, apps, anything low-stakes 🌿 Go outside and interact with your environment (touch trees, skip rocks, wander) 📝 Make up something random — a poem, a story, a fake persona 🕯 Turn something small into a “ritual” just for fun You don’t have to be serious all the time to heal. Sometimes regulation looks like laughing, moving, and not overthinking it. The Purple Phoenix Collective 🔥
