I think that if you can only feel kindness towards someone after feeling empathy or sympathy for them, it's actually not being a good person. I like to believe a good person cares for people and shows kindness no matter what. They don't need to put themselves in someone's bad situation or feel bad for someone's bad situation to feel like showing kindness to that person. Don't get me wrong, empathy is necessary but, it just seems pointless, but still, empathy is excuses. But, sympathy? That's just outrageous. If you can't help or care for someone without pitying them, I think it means you're not a good person, you do an act of kindness towards someone just to feel good and satisfy YOUR own ego with it. So, empathy is acceptable, sympathy is just straight up bad, but, I still feel unconditional kindness is above these all
