People think healing is soft. It's not. Healing is violent. It rips the mask off. It forces you to sit with the truth that the version of you everyone praised was just a well-trained survival response. The "strong one" was just exhausted. The "chill one" was swallowing everything. The "independent one" learned early that needing people wasn't safe. The perfectionism, the overthinking, the hyper-awareness, none of it was personality. It was protection. Healing is looking at yourself and realizing you were never too much or not enough, you were just trying to survive. And the hardest part isn't breaking down. It's grieving the version of you who kept you alive, thanking her for carrying the weight, and then choosing to let it go so you can finally become who you were meant to be.
