i used to be a sweet girl. but life made me brave. people took advantage of my kindness, so i learned to build walls. i learned that not everyone you call a friend is real. some people only want you around when it benefits them. i learned that trusting the wrong people can leave scars and that giving too much of yourself can leave you empty. now, i'm more careful about who i let into my life. i'm still kind, but i've learned that protecting my peace is just as important as loving others. i'm not cold. i'm just wiser than i used to be.
