The old version of me served other people so completely that most of them never noticed how one-sided the arrangement was. Because when someone gives so much from their side, the gap on the other side becomes invisible. There was always enough coming in from one direction to cover what was missing from the other. That gap is visible now. In plain sight. And the only people who get close enough to see it are the people who showed up with enough genuine care to earn that level of closeness. Everyone else sees a door that is simply less open than it used to be.
