There comes this moment when you finally notice the red flags in a person and accept that they don't appreciate or reciprocate your feelings. You see how they come to you not because you're the one they want to talk to at the end of the day, but because you make them feel less lonely. You see how they don't hear you or make an effort to understand what you're going through because your relationship has always been about you being there for them more than them being there for you. It is heartbreaking to learn these things, and what aches you more is knowing that you chose to stay with them despite the half-hearted love they offered you. I think that's what we beat ourselves most about- how we were willing to accommodate and adjust in the name of love, how we were okay with settling for less just because it was comfortable and easy to hold on to than let go of and live without.
Others want to hear from you, so why not share your thoughts ☁️
