People lacking accountability for the crap they did has become my favorite sport to watch lately. The confidence with which they deny what they very clearly did deserves its own documentary. It's fascinating how far someone can stretch a lie just to avoid a simple "I messed up." The plot trists, the rewrites, the selective memory loss, it's almost impressive. Sometimes I sit there and think, if they invested this much energy into self improvement, they'd be unstoppable. Society would benefit. Their career would benefit. Their relationships would survive. And their own self respect might finally have a fighting chance. But no, accountability is apparently heavier than the lie. And I just watch, quietly entertained, because the only thing more consistent than their behavior is their refusal to own it.
