The reality of life is that it's upon us to pick up our broken pieces, put them back together, and endure the excruciatingly uncomfortable process of healing, even though someone else caused the damage. It's upon us to learn to put ourselves first when we are used to believing that we shouldn't. To learn to choose a different path when we have been taught to fit in to be liked. To learn to be our true selves when we have been shamed for not being the perfect child. To learn to set boundaries when we have been taught to keep everyone pleased. To stand up for our needs when we have been told that it makes us look "needy" as if it's a bad thing. To learn to trust again when we have been betrayed repeatedly. To learn to expect when we have been disappointed so many times. It will be exhausting, like climbing a mountain with bare hands, but we can only reclaim our power when we take responsibility to heal.
