Hi Isabell,
I’m truly happy with your question because it inspires me to revisit and deepen my own studies again and again. In ancient times, there were no machines or modern technology, yet our texts explain this through a special science called “Dakargala” — the art of discovering underground water veins.
The Acharyas taught that just as the human body has a network of blood vessels, the Earth also has a hidden network of water veins beneath the soil. Even without instruments, people could identify:
• whether water exists underground
• how deep it is
• whether it is sweet or salty
• whether it is healthy or harmful
They did this by carefully observing the color, smell, and texture of soil, the presence of specific trees and plants, and signs like termite mounds and insects.
This entire knowledge is described in the Samhita Granth under the chapter called “Dakargala Adhyaya.” It shows that what we discover today using machines, our ancestors understood through nature-reading and deep observation.
