Coming out of shutdown 🌀 → finding calm again I tried a somatic practice today called the Bear Hug and it actually helped me come out of that numb, heavy shutdown state and feel more regulated. Here’s how to do it: 🫂 The Bear Hug (3 minutes) • Sit down comfortably • Cross your arms over your chest like you’re hugging yourself • Gently tap one shoulder, then the other (left → right → left…) • Keep a slow, steady rhythm • While tapping, move your eyes side to side or around the room 👀 • Breathe naturally and adjust the pace to what feels okay in your body That’s it. It sounds simple, but the bilateral tapping + eye movement helps your nervous system process and shift states. For me, I went from feeling numb and disconnected → to calmer and more present. If you’re in shutdown, you don’t have to force yourself out of it. Sometimes you just need a small bridge back. 🖤
