People Will Treat You Like Shit and Make Excuses for It Some people will wound you, disrespect you, ignore your feelings, and then dress it up as a life lesson you were supposed to learn. They'll call it "character development," "tough love," or say they were just being honest. But let's be clear: hurting someone unnecessarily is not wisdom. Disrespect is not a teaching tool. And cruelty does not become acceptable simply because someone found a clever excuse for it. Real character development doesn't come from someone else's inability to treat you with decency. It comes from the moment you stop accepting poor treatment as something you deserve. It comes from recognizing that accountability and kindness can exist in the same room. Not everyone who hurt you was trying to help you grow. Some people simply didn't want to take responsibility for the damage they caused. And learning that difference might be the most valuable lesson of all.
