Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), meridian pathways act as invisible energy highways that circulate vital life force (Qi) between the extremities (fingers and toes) and the internal organs. There are 12 primary bilateral pathways that connect these points to the major organ systems. The 6 Arm Meridians (Fingers to Chest) Energy in the arms flows either from the chest out to the fingers (Yang) or from the fingers back into the chest (Yin): Lung Meridian: Begins near the shoulder, runs down the inside of the arm, and ends at the thumb (governs respiration and immunity). Large Intestine Meridian: Starts at the index finger, travels up the arm and shoulder, and ends near the nose. Heart Meridian: Originates in the heart, runs down the inner arm, and terminates at the pinky finger (governs circulation and mental well-being). Small Intestine Meridian: Begins at the outer edge of the pinky, travels up the arm, and ends near the ear. Pericardium Meridian: Originates in the chest, travels down the inner arm, and ends at the tip of the middle finger (protects the heart and governs emotions). Triple Burner (San Jiao) Meridian: Starts at the ring finger, goes up the outer arm, and terminates at the temple. It regulates metabolism and body temperature.
