You might recall from an earlier reply, besides removing clutter and simplifying your bedroom environment, setting up a simple altar to symbolize the sacredness of the sleep period is a good start. Then consider adding spiritual activities to your bedtime routine like a meditation, yoga nidra, pranayama breathwork, or slow movement meditations-light hatha yoga, tai chi or chi gong.
Of course, how we live our days, what we experience or expose ourselves to (intense media, excessive social media) can disturb our ability to sleep or reappear in our dreams as nightmares.
With all these in place, reading up on the "Nocturnal Meditations" - Liminal Dreaming, Lucid Dreaming, Dream Yoga, Sleep Yoga, Bardo Yoga all describe practices to essentially bring spiritual awareness into our nighttime activities. I can recommend boofs on these topics if you are interested. Alternatively, I am offering a Sacred Sleep class in two parts beginning in June.
