In Western Christianity, The Feast of Saint Josaphat, who was a monk and archeparch of the Ruthenian Catholic Church, honors him for his martyrdom by an angry mob in Vitebsk on 12 November 1623 and his being "the best-known victim" of the anti-Catholic violence that resulted from implementing the Union of Brest.

This day is traditionally observed as a Memorial.
