In Western Christianity, Friday of the Passion of the Lord (Good Friday), also known as Holy Friday and Black Friday, is a solemn Christian holiday commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus and his death at Calvary, which is observed with fasting and church services on the Friday preceeding Easter Sunday.

In Christian tradition, on the day that Jesus was crucified there was a Full Moon, and Jesus expired on the hour when, according to Jewish Law, the Passover lamb was traditionally killed.
