In Science, Full Moon, which is when the Moon appears fully illuminated from Earth's perspective, is an event that holds a lot of spiritual significance in many traditions.

Full Moons have played an important role in many spiritual traditions. For example:

  • In Christian tradition, Holy Friday, which is when Jesus Christ was crucified, occurred on a Full Moon.
  • In Buddhist tradition, the Buddha was born, was enlightened, delivered his first sermon, and passed away on a Full Moon.
  • In Jewish tradition, Passover falls on the night of a Full Moon after the northern vernal equinox.
  • In Hindu tradition, the Full Moon is called "purnima" and represents abundance, fullness, and generosity, and is seen as an auspicious time to initiate and accomplish meaningful activities and to commemorate important occassions.
  • In Islamic tradition, the Prophet Mohammad would fast every Full Moon.
