In Judaism, Pesach I, also known as Passover, is part of an annual weeklong festival commemorating the emancipation of Jewish peoples from slavery.

It commemorates the Biblical event when God commanded Moses to tell the Israelites to mark a lamb's blood above their doors in order that the Angel of Death would pass over them.

Passover typically falls on the night of a full moon after the northern vernal equinox.
