In Hinduism, Nirjala Ekadashi, which is the 11th day of the waxing phase of the moon in the Hindu lunar month of Jyeshta, is considered to be a day to cleanse the body, aid repair and rejuvenation, and to be observed by a complete fast.

This is considered to be the most austere and hence the most sacred of all 24 Ekadashis in the year
