In Eastern Christianity, Holy Tuesday, also known as Great and Holy Tuesday, or Great Tuesday, is the day that the Church commemorates the Parable of the Ten Virgins.
This parable forms one of the themes of the first three days of Holy Week, with its teaching about vigilance, and Christ as the Bridegroom.
Traditionally, "Apolytikion" and "Kontakion" hymns are recited on this day.
