In Eastern Christianity, Holy Saturday, also known as the "Great Sabbath" or "Black Saturday", is the day after Jesus's crucifixion, when Jesus' body lay in the tomb.

In Christian tradition, on this day Jesus's soul triumphantly descended into Hell in order to bring salvation to all of the righteous who had died since the beginning of the world.
