In Eastern Christianity, First Tuesday of Lent, which takes place during the first week of Lent, is often focused on two parables, the first of which is the parable of the Ten Virgins (Mt 25.1-3., and the second of which is the parable of the Talents (Mt 25.14-30), which deal with such subjects as spiritual vigilance, stewardship, accountability and judgement.

In Eastern Christian tradition, Lent refers to the 40 days leading up to the day that Jesus was resurrected.

Lent is intended to be a "workshop" where the character of each person is spiritually uplifted and strengthened and where their life is rededicated to the principles and ideals of the Gospel.

During this period, Christians are encouraged to engage in fasting and prayer, and to participate in "good works" such as charity and acts of compassion. These activities are intended help you become a more spiritually awakened and dedicated person.
