Fathers of the 1st Council

In Eastern Christianity, Fathers of the 1st Council, also known as the first general council in the history of the Church, was convened by the Roman emperor Constantine the Great in 325.

At this council, which took place in Nicaea, the Fathers composed what came to be known as the "Nicene Creed", clarifying that Jesus, though the Son of God, is at the same time one in essence with the Father.
