Celebrating the scientific principles that make our physical universe work is a great way to feel more connected to it.
One simple way to do this is to do a home science experiment that demonstrates important properties of chemistry, physics, and biology. Here are a few you can try at home today:
* Volcano (chemistry): Put baking soda into a container, add a bit of dish soap and food coloring. Pour in vinegar and watch a bubbly eruption occur!
* Density tower (physics): In a glass, first pour a bit of honey, then some dish soap, then water (with food coloring for visibility), then vegetable oil, and then rubbing alcohol. Observe how none of the layers mix!
* Bread mold (biology): Wet one slice of bread and leave another dry. Place them in separate plastic bags. Leave them for several days and observe mold growth, especially on the wet slice.
