In ancient Mysticism traditions, art and symbolism are tools that can help you become closer to the divine.
Symbols, mathematics, and science are seen as fingerprints of the Creator on creation that can be used to help humans "retrace" the steps of creation from the material world of "Physis" (Φύσις) back to the universal consciousness of the Creator.
Below are a few divine symbols from the Mysticism tradition that you can try drawing or doodling.
The "Divine Creator" symbol. This is represented by a circle with a dot in its center. In Mysticism, in astrology this symbol represents the Sun (which enables life on planet earth), in numerology it represents the Monad (the most essential unit of mathematics - 1), and in alchemy it represents Gold (the most precious metal and a symbol of enlightenment).
The Moon symbol. This is represented by the crescent symbol, where the crescent can be drawn facing either the right or the left. This symbol also represents the metal Silver in Mysticism's alchemy tradition, and also connotes things like intuition, emotion, and fulfillment.
The "divine messenger" symbol. This is represented by the crossed caduceus" (staff intertwined with two serpents). In Mysticism, this symbol represents the planet Mercury in astrology, and the metal Mercury in alchemy.
The "divine female" symbol. This is represented by a circle with a cross. In Mysticism, this symbol represents the planet Venus in astrology and the metal Copper in alchemy.
The "divine male" symbol. This is represented by a shield with a spear. In Mysticism, this symbol represents the planet Mars in astrology, and the metal Iron in alchemy.
The Jupiter symbol. This is represented by a stylized "Z" with a stroke through it, which stands for "Zeus". To modern readers this symbol can look like a stylized “4”. This symbol also represents the metal Tin in Mysticism's alchemy tradition.
The Saturn symbol. This is represented by a "crossed kappa-rho", which stands for "Kronos", the Greek name for Saturn. To western audiences, they symbol can look like a stylized “h” with a cross on top. This symbol also represents the metal Lead in Mysticism's alchemy tradition.
