Before partaking of any food, try saying a "brachah rishonah" (preceding blessing) to cultivate a sense of gratitude for sustenance.

There are six traditional blessings you can do in the Jewish tradition. Each one begins with the words "Baruch atah Adonoi elohainu melech haolam" ("Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the Universe"), and concludes with a few words giving thanks for the type of food being eaten.
