Seder is the ritual meal that marks the beginning of the Jewish festival of Passover (Pesach), and commemorates the Israelites' exodus from Egypt and their escape from slavery under Pharaoh.

It combines a festive meal with traditional symbolic food items as well. The meal can vary depending on family tradition, but might include things like matzah ball soup, gefilte fish, brisket, roasted chicken, or potato kugel.

The symbolic foods usually include Matzah (Unleavened Bread), Maror and Chazeret (Bitter Herbs), Charoset (a sweet paste made of fruits, nuts, wine, and spices), Karpas (a vegetable which is dipped in salt water and eaten), Zeroah (a lamb Shank Bone), and Beitzah (a Roasted Egg).
