The Hitbodedut method of Jewish meditation involves talking to God in an intimate, informal manner while secluded in a private setting such as a closed room or a private outdoor setting, with the intention of ultimately joining God in union.

The most common way to do Hitbodedut meditation is called bitul, or "nullification". To practice this meditation, which the practitioner meditates on God's presence to the exclusion of all other things, including oneself.

The goal is to start "nullifying" different aspects of yourself during your conversation with God, until eventually nothing remains and you are able to feel complete union with the divine.

To start the Hitbodedut meditation, start by just talking to God. Engage God in as simple and informal a manner as possible. The idea is to start a dialogue with God in whatever way feels most comfortable and natural to you. Once you have begun engaging God in conversation as part of the Hitbodedut process, next begin speaking to God about your lusts and bad traits. Identify and annunciate them to God, asking God to help you nullify or erasee each of your bad habits.

Continue speaking to God, now focusing on your heart and mind. Speak to God about each of your thoughts and emotions, asking God to help you erase or nullify each of these as well. Ask God to help you remove every thought you have and every emotion you have from the world.

Once you have spoken with God and all of your lusts, bad traits, thoughts, and emotions have been erased, now continue speaking with God, focusing on removing anything that remains of you in this world, including your ego. With no trace of yourself left in the world, all that remains is God, and your spirit will crave and seek oneness with the Creator.

At this point, your spirit can be included in the the infinite and ultimate reality that is God.
