There are a number of symbols in Islam that can be used as a way to remember and deepen your spiritual devotion to God, or "Allah". Try drawing or doodling one of the symbols below.
The "Hand of Fatima". This symbol consists of a human palm with an eye in the center of it, and where the three middle fingers are extended and the pinky and thumb are folded down. Fatima was the daughter of the Prophet Muhammad and is revered in Islamic tradition as the ultimate example of compassion, generosity, and perseverence. The symbol of her hand represents defense, bravery, and power, and is often used as an icon of protection.
The "Allah symbol". The word for "God" in Arabic is "Allah", and when written in Islamic calligraphy it is widely used as a symbol of Islam in the Muslim world.
The Rub el Hizb. The "Islamic Star" is an 8-pointed star that is used when reciting the Quran. It consists of two overlapping squares – one placed parallel to the ground and one tilted at 45 degrees. Together, they form an 8-pointed star, and a small circle is drawn in the center of the star to complete the symbol.
The "Nazar". This symbol is believed to offer protection from the "evil eye". In Islam, the term “evil eye” usually refers to harm that comes to a person because of someone else’s jealousy or envy towards them. This envy or jealousy is believed to be able to cause real harm and misfortune, and is a phenomenon that is mentioned in both the Quran and the hadith.
