"Partial day" Fast
Elevate your spirit through mindful abstinence
Eastern Orthodox
A deep, ancient form of Christianity with sacred traditions, icons, and prayers that bring people closer to God and their spiritual community.
In Christian tradition, fasts like this are often seen as an act of devotion to God - a way to treat the human body as a temple that must be kept holy (1 Corinthians 6:19–20).
This type of fast is normally done on Wednesdays and Friday in Eastern Christian traditions, and during Friday penances in Western Christian traditions.
To do it, avoid eating food all day from sunrise to sunset. Or alternatively, limit yourself to just one full meal during this period.
Of course, make sure you consult your physician before beginning any new fasting routine to ensure that it is suitable for you.
