This movement is believed to reinforce the Earth element in the body which promotes greater kindness and compassion. It is also believed to be particularly helpful to the Stomach and Spleen.

To do it, start in a relaxed standing position with you knees slightly bent. Take a small step to your left, with your left foot balanced on its heel. As you step, sink your hips and gently move your left and right arms up so that they are positioned in front of you and bent up at a 45 degree angle. Then repeat this motion to the other side.

While Tai Chi is a low-intensity martial art that can help boost your life force or "Qi", this and other movements are best learned under the guidance of a qualified instructor.
