The Tai Chi "Single Whip" move
Use your body to foster hope and creativity
Daoism & Qi
Let nature, balance, and harmony guide the way as you seek to flow with the universe, live simply, and attain inner peace.
This move is believed to reinforce the Wood element in the body which promotes greater creativity and optimism. It is also believed to particularly help the Liver.
To do it, start in a relaxed standing position with you knees slightly bent. Take a large step to your left, and while you step gently half-extend your left arm in front of you to your left side, while keeping your right arm in a hooked position at shoulder level on your right side. Then repeat this motion to the other side.
While Tai Chi is a low-intensity martial art that can help boost your life force or "Qi", this and other movements are best learned under the guidance of a qualified instructor.
