This move is believed to reinforce the Water element in the body which promotes greater calm and wisdom. It is also believed to be particularly beneficial to the Kidneys.

To do it, start in a relaxed standing position with you knees slightly bent. Step back with your left foot. As you step back with your left foot, slowly extend your right hand into a pushing motion in front of you, while your left hand comes to stomach level, palm up. Then repeat this motion to the other side.

While Tai Chi is a low-intensity martial art that can help boost your life force or "Qi", this and other movements are best learned under the guidance of a qualified instructor.
