This movement is believed o reinforce the Earth element in the body which helps to foster greater compassion and kindness. It is also believed to be particularly beneficial for the Spleen.

To do it, start in a relaxed standing position with you knees slightly bent. Take a large step to your left. As you step, gently sweep your left arm up from your right hip until it is at shoulder level, palm facing towards you, while pushing your right hand down toward your right hip. Then repeat this motion to the other side.

While Tai Chi is a low-intensity martial art that can help boost your life force or "Qi", this and other movements are best learned under the guidance of a qualified instructor.
