This movement is believed to reinforce the Fire element in the body which helps to promote greater enthusiasm and joy. It is also believed to be particularly beneficial for the Heart.
To do it, start in a relaxed standing position with you knees slightly bent. Take a large step to your left, slowly twisting so that you brush your left knee with your left hand and extend your right hand out in front of you in a pushing motion. Then repeat this motion to the other side.
While Tai Chi is a low-intensity martial art that can help boost your life force or "Qi", this and other movements are best learned under the guidance of a qualified instructor.
