Daoist "reverse breathing" is believed to strengthen abdominal muscles, the immune system, and to boost overall energy levels. As such is widely practiced in a number of martial arts such as kung fu and tai chi.

As the name suggests, doing reverse breathing involves tucking your belly IN when you inhale and pushing your belly OUT when you exhale (the reverse of "normal" breathing).
