In Christian tradition, fasts like this are often seen as an act of devotion to God - a way to treat the human body as a temple that must be kept holy (1 Corinthians 6:19–20).

In this type of fast, from sunrise to sunset you avoid consuming meat and meat products. Consuming dairy products, eggs, fish, oil and wine is still allowed.

This fast is most common during the week preceding Lent ("Cheesefare").

Of course, make sure you consult your physician before beginning any new fasting routine to ensure that it is suitable for you.
