The use of fireworks is a cultural tradition in many parts of Asia that over time has been adopted and adapted into Buddhist tradition. Particularly during important holidays and festivals.
Fireworks are traditionally seen as serving three symbolic purposes. First, their light and movement is an expression of joy during significant occasions. Second, their loud noise is seen as a way of warding off evil spirits and negative energies. And third, their temporary and fleeting nature is seen as symbolizing the Buddhist principle of impermanence.
